Excitement crackled through the GIIS KL campus on March 25th, 2024, as the preliminary round of the Mr. & Ms. Cambridge competition kicked off.  This vibrant event, open to all Primary and Secondary students enrolled in the Cambridge program, celebrated cultural expression, personality development, and creative innovation.

Eager participants, both boys and girls, competed for a spot in the semi-finals and finals. Each student donned two distinct costumes, one representing tradition and another showcasing creative costume wear. 

The first round transported everyone to a world of cultural heritage. Students proudly presented themselves in traditional attire, reflecting the rich tapestry of various countries. They incorporated props and offered brief explanations highlighting the significance of their chosen attire.  Some students even went a step further, introducing themselves in the language of their chosen nation!

The second round unleashed a wave of creativity. Students donned "creative costume wear," where outfits were not just visually stunning but also held deeper meaning. Several students even crafted their outfits from recycled materials, adding a sustainable touch.

Led by our dedicated teachers, Ms. Satisha Vijayan and Ms. Nidhi Jain, the Mr. & Ms. Cambridge competition transcended mere costume displays.

It provided a platform for our students to express themselves through visual and performing arts (Gem3), develop their personalities(Gem4), think creatively and showcase their innovative spirit (Gem5), embrace universal values and ethical practices (Gem7), and hone valuable skills such as public speaking and explanation (Gem9) aligning perfectly with the school's 9Gems holistic framework. 

The preliminary round selected five finalists from each category (Primary Boys, Primary Girls, Secondary Boys, and Secondary Girls) who will advance to the semi-finals and finals. Stay tuned for an update on the winners!
